People I Like is the Blueprint Project's follow up to its critically acclaimed self-titled second album. Like that outing, the trio adds a guest artist to round out the roster, this time it's new Dutch Swing founding father and master drummer Han Bennink. Bennink's resume reads like the history of jazz and over his 40+ year career he has played with all types of stylists (from Dexter Gordon to Dave Douglas). He brings his creativity and energy to nine new compositions by The Blueprint Project Members.

"The Blueprint Project channels its creative juices into carefully written tunes, and the pre-formed songs put Bennink in his element of inimitable performance art. Reedist Jared Sims, guitarist Eric Hofbauer and pianist Tyson Rogers each composed three new pieces for this CD. People I Like is well-composed, well-performed, well-packaged—it is an all-around impeccable jazz record. Tunes like "Herbie Nichols" and "Jac-Mac Talkin'" seem to be written specifically for Bennink. The former features Rogers' sprightly piano, Sims' soulful clarinet and Bennink's swinging lines while the latter showcases Bennink's brush technique.
